what I'm leaving behind...

This post may actually seem quite silly to many of you but there will be some that understand it completely. Obviously I am leaving many things/people behind in this move to Korea... my parents, siblings, nephew, nieces, household items, etc that I would love to take with us. But if you were to ask me what is the one THING (not person) that you wish you could take with you to Korea, I would answer with this: Darcy. If you would have told me a year ago that I would have a cat, I would have laughed in your face. I hated cats!! Then, Robert started traveling alot for work and I was lonely. I told him I wanted a pet that I could snuggle with and talk to. The first idea was a fish, but I didn't think me cuddling a fish bowl would really do the trick :) Then we thought of a dog. We live in a very small trailer and I would hate having him cooped up in the house, plus puppies have so much energy that I wasn't in the mood to train a dog. So, my friends Jim and Lorinda were getting rid of their cat's most recent litter and I convinced Robert to just go LOOK at the kitties. :) He was against getting a cat, but later he told me that in his mind he said the ONLY way he would get a cat was if there was an all black, male cat. Lucky for us, there was!

For those of you who hate cats as I did, you don't understand this. For the past seven months, Darcy has met me at the door when I got home so that I could hold him and cuddle with him (not a normal cat!! :), he snuggled with me everynight when I was working on homework and writing lesson plans (he always had a paw touching me) and he was company for me when Robert traveled. Robert taught him to play fetch and in many ways he acts like a dog :) Basically he is our child :) I know, I know, weird right? Yep, but I love him and I don't care. So, I am very sad to leave Darcy but I am so glad that my mom will keep him so that I know he will be loved and I can see him when I get back!

The first time I saw Darcy and picked him out. His eyes were barely open :)

The first night he came home he cried the whole night! It about broke my heart.

He's still cuddling with me like this and he's all grown up...

So while you may think this is a pathetic and a waste of reading :) It was fun for me to write about Darcy.  He really is a very special cat to me and I will miss him very much. See ya!

I had no idea you were moving to Korea. I thought you were just moving to another house. Wow, exciting! May I ask why Korea and when do you leave? Cheers!

I'm with Rayia... I had no idea it was Korea... I thought perhaps another state, because you were selling unusual things that could easily be moved even across town... Wow! And I completely understand Darcy. I would miss him too if he were mine. He sounds like a great pet and great friend. :)

This in NO way was a waste of reading... and it is DEFINITELY not pathetic. I would be devastated having to leave a pet..scratch that... family member/furry child behind. However, I know that the Lord is probably giving you more strength than you imagined in many areas at this time. Adorable pictures, btw. Thanks for sharing! =]
